RE: fresh meats & produce across the border

When I went to through the border of US-Canada to Alaska they were concerned about drugs and firearms. I don't think you'll get in trouble for bringing meats and produce for consumption. They actually want you to bring certain amount of money and food to go through the AL-CAN Hi Way. Have a nice trip & load up at WhiteHorse.

RE: mosquitoes and bugs AND DOGS

If you go to the woods with your dog bring a bag of dog plasma. Those Alaskan state bird will suck you and the dog's blood dry. Bugs spray is also nice to have there should be one that smells like Old Spice :-) The last time I remember I was infested with mosquitoes I was hiking at Thunderbird Falls. Those bugs has proboscis adapters they go through your pants and it swells bad too. My 5 YO nephew was left taking a nap in a motor home by Deep Creek somehow the ME 109 got though and he looked like Mike Tyson just beat the******out of him. He lived and he's 21 now. To me I can deal with the mosquitoes though I know there are no snakes in Alaska and that's a plus.

RE: It's offical, Spring is here in Anchorage!

Hello AK Dave I know the feeling man! The melting snow, mud and then dusts. Are the Barnacle Geese there yet? We used to BBQ by the view point on New Seward Hi-way every April. I know it's still cold but my summer in Alaska starts on April. I've heard you guys got snowed 12" 2 weeks ago? I missed the fresh air, nice people, nature, and relaxation. Also my family they are all in Anchorage. They told me they are going to KNIK river for the Memorial Day weekend I envy them. I still have my parka 'cause I will be back someday.

RE: Rude people in lower mainland B.C. - Is it always like that?

I think anywhere you go there are those kinda people everywhere. But my experience when I traveled down through Cassiar Hi-way B.C. from Alaska in 1994 was bad. We drove in a 4WD Toyota truck down the rugged Cassiar Hi-way to San Diego, Ca. It was like 10pm and there was no truck stop every 100 miles or so. When we found a lodge in the middle of nowhere we stopped and I checked-in. There were a bunch of French Canadian lumberjacks by the "lobby" playing cards. They gave me the "look that kills" and told me not to stay there. While some of them still have their chainsaws and axes by their side I managed to just smile. The bad thing also is that the rooms don't have doors just drapes & also the bathrooms. I was unwelcome and chainsaw massacre in mind I told the lady in the counter I will be right back with my wallet. Of course we drove another 50 miles and just slept in the truck on the side of the road. When we got to the nearest city everyone was normal and nice.

RE: Procedure to Remove Furnace

Hi Bigfoot, is it not the thermostat doing the early shut down? On my Sunseeker I can ALSO access the furnace from the inside through the return register under the oven. I did found a circuit board on top of my furnace when I made a home filter housing for the return vent. I just thought a filter would help since those heaters are expensive $500+

RE: Mileage

Hello everyone, it seemed most of us owned a class C V-10. I normally follow the freeway 65 and 70 speed limit and had a felling it suck more gas than just driving 55 mph. What's the gas saving cruise speed for a V-10s?
